Yesterday, the art class that I teach for the Park Place Child Life Center took an animals in art tour at the Chrysler Museum. The museum was closed to the general public because it was being used as a polling station, so we had all of the galleries to ourselves, which was really lovely.

This was the first field trip of it's kind, and I was pretty nervous on the drive over that something would go disasterously wrong. We didn't set off any security alarms and everyone learned a little something...so, all in all, a successful trip!

Here we are displaying our own masterpieces~ animal puppets that we designed and built from scratch. Jiujuan (the little boy in the very front) did mention that the puppets are much better than "all those pictures of naked people hanging up everywhere." Ahhhh yes, from the mouths of babes.

editor's note (for all yall with an eye for detail!!): The mock-up of the Lion has the word "Killem" written above it, and that is his name. Part of the unit included character development, and the children actually created personalities for their puppets to fit into a story context. Consequently, Killem is the antagonist of our story. Very subtle, to be sure.
