This Spring Simon and Benjamin trained for and competed in two trail race events. The first one, the Hyner View Trail Challenge, is a 25K race with very steep terrain. Simon and Benjamin camped out near the race location the night before the event and started early the next morning. Simon really enjoys being on the trail and sets the pace for both of them. Many of the other runners asked to give Simon high 5s and cheered him on as one of the youngest participants in the field. The last mile of the race was hard for Simon, but he was determined to finish, and finish he did! Next, the Eagle Trek took place closer to home a few weeks later and the weather conditions were fantastic for their 12 mile jaunt in the woods. Simon often compares his experience on the trail to his beloved Lord of the Rings stories, I think there is a magical element to his time on the trail which is very special for all of us.
