Last Friday Mutti and momma took Josie to have her ears pierced. Josie has talked about this right of passage incessantly for many weeks now, and at last the time was upon us. In the moments just before the piercing she steeled herself up, demonstrating great courage. Before our eyes she transformed into the little warrior which has been a part of her nature since the day she was born. I didn't know whether to laugh of cry. Fortunately there were two certified people present so that they could pierce both ears at the same time. Josie chose Aquamarine studs. She faithfully twists the earrings three times a day every day as part of the healing process and talks dreamily of the dangles and hoops she will wear one day. Oy vay!
