31 August 2011

This August something very special happened for Clinton County. The local Keystone baseball little league team won districts, then took states, and finally the mid-Atlantic region playoff tournaments, earning them a spot in the Little League World Series. The annual series in held just 30 miles away in South Williamsport. As you can imagine, the town went wild! The very first night Keystone played at Lamade Stadium, 41,800 people showed up for the game, breaking the previous attendance record. Simon was able to attend two of the games Keystone played in person, including that first game with the huge numbers. Our team ended up 3rd in the country and 6th in the world, not too shabby! On top of all that, this group of boys and coaches demonstrated both true humility and good sportsmanship to the Nth degree, and the way the community rallied for these kids was a beautiful thing to behold.
